Different stages are involved in this process. Your hair will go from one point to another during your hair transplant procedure before it fully materializes. These stages are referred to as the evolution of hair transplant. From the point you get to the clinic to the point you finalize your session, there’s a lot that takes place. Similarly, from the point you finalize your session till six months or a year when your hair fully develops, there are different stages involved.

This way, you get to know more about the process and become more confident. For instance, one of the stages involved in the period where your hair strands have to fall.

Many clients often panic at this stage, thinking that the hair transplant has failed. But when you already know of the evolution stages, you will not have to worry about this. Before discussing the stages, let’s talk about the different hair transplant methods your surgeons could use. Continue reading to learn more.

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)

This is the less common procedure. When it comes to FUT, the procedure is performed by removing a piece of people’s scalp. This is usually removed from an individual’s head, the back area. The scalp size that gets removed is usually about six to ten inches long. After the removal, the area that the scalp was extracted from is closed with stitches. This will be done neatly to ensure the surface isn’t compromised.

After this, the removed scalp gets separated into smaller pieces. The scalp could be divided into as many as 2,000 pieces, which are called a graft. Each of these grafts could contain at least one hair. In preparation for the actual transplant, holes are made into your scalp with a needle or blade. Then hairs from each of the divided grafts are inserted into the punctured holes, after which they are covered with bandages.

The number of grafts you would require with this procedure depends on the thickness of the hair you want, your hair type, the bald area’s size, and even your hair color.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

This procedure is the common one, which you’ll find many clinics operating with. FUE is an increasingly popular technique. It is more favored in the present day than the FUT procedure.

The surgeon removes the hair on an individual’s head to perform this procedure, the back area. After this, individual follicles are removed from your scalp. The surgeon then makes holes in the transplant area of your head using a needle or blade, after which the removed hair follicles are grafted into the made holes.  Both procedures take several hours to complete and take a while to recover.

Day By Day Evolution Of The Hair Transplant

The hair transplant will take up to a year before you begin to see the actual results. During this period, it will go through several stages. We shall breakdown these stages for discussion so that you can have adequate insights into the procedure.

The First 10 Days

The first ten days represent the period when the hair will grow right after the hair transplant. When the hair grows, that’s an indication that the hair transplant is viable and will materialize later on. However, you should note that the hair strands will fall in weeks to follow the first ten days. This is often the stage where many panic, thinking that the hair transplant has failed. That is not the case.

After ten days, you’ll go back for your staple removal. At this stage, the surgeon will inform you of the pending falling of the hair strands. The surgeon might also show you pictorial evidence of past clients so that you can be more confident in the process.

Therefore, do not panic in the first three weeks when the hair begins to fall. Your surgeon will give you certain post-procedure instructions to follow. Ensure you follow the instructions to attain proper care.

60 Days Post-procedure

60 days after your procedure represents a period where you’ll notice another sizable change. By this stage, the transplanted hair grafts will all have fallen off. During this period, the transplanted hair will go through a phase where the hair shaft will be released. A new hair shaft will start to grow, indicating new developments. The hair shaft will occasion the new set of hair strands that will grow on the head.

90 Days Post-procedure

At 90 Days Post-procedure, the hair will start to grow. This stage marks the beginning growth stage for the hair. As such, the hair in this stage will come out thin. As time goes on and as more strands grow, the hair will become thicker and become more viable.

180 Days Post-procedure

The hair would have grown well at this stage. The head’s spaces would have been filled with strands of hair, and the hair will now start to fill in. The hair at this stage is already getting the appearance of impressive density, meaning that the hair is coming around well.

By the seventh month, the hair would have grown adequately. When you compare the seventh-month results to the first day, there will be a clear difference. Yet, the client will still have some months to go before the hair fully materializes.

Final Thoughts

Essentially, it is clear that there are different stages involved in the evolution of the hair transplant. It goes from the plain scalp till it accommodates the hair shaft, and starts to grow strands of hair. This goes on till the gairy begins to fill in and acquire excellent density. Knowing the evolution stages involved, a client won’t have to panic when the hair begins to fall few days after the procedure.
